Jamael Oronde Barber is a Blacksburg, Virginia-born retired American Football player who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the National Football League. The NFL player born on 7th April 1975, is perhaps best known for being associated with the same team during his entire career in football. Better known by the name “Ronde Barber”, he is currently a sports news broadcaster at Fox Sports. He was active as a professional NFL player from 1997 until 2012.

When Ronde was still a child, his father divorced his mother, who raised Ronde and his two brothers by herself. Ronde was educated at Cave Spring High School of Roanoke, Virginia, where he excelled in wrestling, football and track. As a high school senior, Barber won a national title in 55-meter hurdles in track. Later, he was offered a scholarship at the University of Virginia, where he played college football as a team member of the Virginia Cavaliers. As a college football player, he won 1994 Independence Bowl and 1995 Peach Bowl with his team mates.
After graduating, Barber was chosen by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 1997 NFL Draft. During his career as a professional footballer, he was selected for five Pro Bowls and in National Football League 2000s All-Decade Team. One of the best-known players, Ronde accumulated three First Team All-Pro selections. He and his team mate Charles Woodson were the only two members of “40/20 club”. Moreover, he is noted for leading all his team members in interceptions in 2001. Barber also managed to win Super Bowl XXXVII, as a part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the New York Giants.
